OUR NEW COLLEGE STUDENT AT BYU-IDAHO

I can't believe that our "baby" is headed off to College.  It seems like he was just a little boy and now we are sending him off to Idaho.  It is truly amazing how fast it goes by!  Now Kraig and I will be "empty-nesters" ... at least for a little while until he comes home before a mission.

Packing up and getting ready to drive 11 hours up
to BYU-Idaho ... he's taking his car.

On campus and in front of his Apartment Clubhouse "Nauvoo House"

In his room ... he really has lots of storage.
Didn't get any pictures of room-mates because most of them
 weren't there yet.

Making his first dinner in his new Fiesta Quesadilla Maker that he got at
 Good Will for $3.00!
(That's Jessica in the background)

A few more pictures of his apartment clubhouse .... laundry is "free"
for the low-low price of tuition.

The mail room!

They even have a piano room!

A huge conference auditorium they just built ... hard to see
because of the lighting.

An awesome cafeteria!  Will have to post more pictures later!

Kind of wish I could go back to school!

A Day at the Pool ...

Had a fun day with Kelsey, Josiah and his family.   It was Josiah's sister (Arielle) 25th birthday and the whole family went to the pool.  With Jacob working all the time (and no small children at home) I don't get to go very often so I jumped at the chance!

Josiah, Arielle and her husband Josh

His younger brother was there too.

His Grandfather, Sal came but didn't get a picture!

It was a fun day with GREAT people ...

ONE MAN'S TRASH . . .

The Meadow's Community Garage Sales
June 7-8

Every year, the "Meadows" housing development (where we live)
has a huge community garage sale and this year the residents
out-did themselves.  The weather was great and it was a good day to
SHOP FOR BARGAINS!

There were more garage sales than I have ever seen in the
10 years we have lived here!

I found great treasures and was only out for a few hours.
Imagine the stuff I could have found had I stayed out a few more ...

Here were my partners in crime ....
Jacob and his friend Alana
(Of course the only picture I got, his eyes are closed!)

HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF MY GREAT FINDS!

Graco Pack n Play for $15.00 (like brand new)

"Born" sandals for "$1.00
Screamin' deal ... hardly worn and
MY SIZE!

  • Then there was one of my favorite books, when I was a child - $.025
  • A beautiful vase for my beautiful flowers - $.025
  • A Pottery Barn woven beach bag for our trip to California - free from a neighbor!

A really cute Super-Hero Cape that somebody
hand-made ... I couldn't pass it up!

Batman on One Side / Superman on the Other
$1.00

  • A doll-sized high chair - $3.00
  • An "Elmo" that you can put different hand, feet, noses on - $2.00
  • A checker game for the tent-trailer - $2.00

Jacob bought a couple of things ...
Didn't get a picture of some of the items!

There was a bake sale at one of the houses and he bought:
1 Big Cinnamon Roll
A Carmel Nut Pastry
1 Small Loaf of Sour Dough Bread
all eaten before I could get a picture!

He did buy 5 DVDs - $1.00
and a "little" turtle for Mabel - $.025

One final picture is of a very special
Nativity Set that a woman bought in Mexico.
(Jessica already said she wants it!)

A fun day ... and very profitable!

Spring means ...outside projects!

 The "Deck-Staining" Party

Our deck really took a beating from the terrible "ping-pong ball" sized hail
we had last spring --  almost a year ago, to-the-day!

We had to get a new roof, several new windows, the whole house painted and we will also get reimbursement for the deck damage and re-staining costs.

 Thank goodness for Homeowners Insurance!

I kind of felt guilty about all the claims but Kraig said ..... NOT!!!

Here's a couple of pictures of the hail damage.
(look for the complete "Hail Damage" post,
as I try to fill in the blanks from last year!)

When the missionaries from our church were over for dinner a couple of weeks ago, Elder Morris saw the deck and asked if we would like to have a bunch of the missionaries come over and help stain it as service project.  We surely could not pass up the helping hands of the Lord!!

6 blessed young men showed up around 3:00pm on Friday to help sand off the old stain --we had the machines and sandpaper all ready to go.  By 5:00pm, we had they whole thing sanded, swept and ready to stain!

Service in action ...
so happy to be the grateful recipients!

All ready to be stained!

We fed these fine young men a delicious dinner of
BBQ'd burgers, chips & watermelon for all their hard work.
(Jacob managed to escape the hard labor on both days by having to work--
He made up for it by bringing home Cold Stone Ice Cream for everyone!)

The whole crew arrived back by 8:30am
the next morning and ...

WE WERE DONE BY NOON!

What an amazing blessing!

Ummmm .... what are you thinking?

Absolutely perfect!

Now tomorrow we will move all of the stuff back onto the decks and then it's ...

SUMMER PARTY TIME!!!

The previous weekend we mulched all my flower beds.
They look so nice!

About a year and a half ago, we ripped out the bushes in front of our house and
took off the front railing on the porch.

We got new bushes and things planted (and they all came back this year)
& with the house painted its a whole new look ...

WE LOVE IT!
