Groovy Halloween Fun!

We went to our annual church Halloween party out at our friends huge barn in the country. Big chili cookoff, costume parade for the kids, hayrides and at the end everyone lines their cars up down the dirt road with the trunks and backs open (some of them go all out in decorating them) and all the kids go from car to car in the dark and "trunk or treat." It's a lot of fun! Here is Jacob and I as a mother hippy and son! Kelsey didn't want to dress up this year! Tried to get her to hang a toilet seat around her neck with streamers and balloons and go as a "party pooper" but she wouldn't even do that!

Here are my crazy friends - Casey, Robin and Connie! We went to see Momma Mia together and they were inspired! Along with other fun pics! People can be so creative! I love Jackie as the McDonald's worker and her little "small fry". I didn't get a picture, but my friend Sara, who is pregnant, was a gypsy and her belly was a big crystal ball. My little neighbor boy, David (the littlest monkey shown) came up to me and was checking out my fro. I flashed him the peace sign
and he said, "NO SHERRILL, I'm 3." It was so cute -- fun stuff!

A Bit Nippy Out This Morning ...

Burrrrrrrrr -- woke up to a dusting of heavy frost this morning. I guess there is no sense in fighting it -- the flip-flops have to be put away! Bummer!

White Magic

Our neighbor Jim and two of his sons (Kevin and David)
came over and put on a "White Magic" show
for us while everyone was here.
It was really cool!!!

Fun & Games

We had lots of fun with Jessica, Nate, Grandma and Grandpa here. Jessica and Nate always make things fun and crazy. We went shopping for new winter coats and the kids thought these would be fun ones!

Mexican Train is one of the favorite games we play but you really have to watch out for Grandpa and the hanging doubles!! I beat the socks off of them in Scattegories!

Sonata's n Such

Guest Post by: Jessica Tew

Yesterday we went to Kelsey's piano recital. She has been taking lessons from Greg Adams, a former concert pianist, for just over a year. She did an awesome job! There were about 15 students and Kelsey was saved for last. She played three different classical pieces including a duet with her teacher that was so beautiful! Take a listen below...

Kelsey's Homecoming Dance

We made the boutonniere, a friend of ours did her makeup and hair --
she looked so pretty!

She went with friends and a blind date, John.
He turned out to be a cutie and a really nice guy.

They had a great time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD!

I was trying to find a way to post a picture of my Dad and I when I was little, but didn't have one on my computer ... tried figure out how to scan the picture from the printer/scanner to my laptop, then here and publish it, but I couldn't get past the first step of trying to scan it so it would go into the computer!!! Ahhhhh .... now my brain hurts! Anyway, this is a fairly recent picture of us, Dad. I was sad because I don't have one of just us two -- had to cut out others at our side, but I like it because you look really happy! Anyway, I thought I would just say how much I love you, Dad and that I am so blessed to be your daughter and to have you as my father!! We have had some wonderful times together ... and while we didn't get to have the "traditional" father-daughter relationship growing up (with you not always living with us) what we had and have is so special to me. I really wouldn't have traded it, Dad. I love you so very much and am so happy that a part of the great person you are ... lives inside of me. Hope you have a Happy, Happy, Birthday! (We won't mention how many years it is because that will make us both feel old!)

My Little Pig Died!

I can't believe that my sweet little guinea pig died while my Mom was here! She convinced me that it wasn't because of his little "sprinkler" incident of a couple of weeks ago but I'm not so sure. I can't believe that we now have NO pets -- in just 6 weeks time, they are all three GONE, GONE, GONE! Sad ... sad ... sad

Antique Row of Denver

Mom and I went shopping at The Antique Row of Denver with over 200 merchants on 17 blocks. Really amazing! All sorts of shops with nice stuff and then shops with tons of just old junk that you have to sift through. It was really fun. I bought another little vase for my collection, a cute little candy dish, a old bottle with my maiden name initials (SB) on it and the absolutely cutest little salt dish and spoon. I LOVE pepper so I have it by my place at the table and it brings me joy every time I use it -- not to mention it makes me think of Mom and our fun day!
Then we went to the cutest place for lunch and tea. I couldn't help but think of Jessica while I was there -- you could do your "social work" by opening one of these places in Sugar House and bringing people "joy" each day by having them into your shop! It was such a great place.

Happy with our great paninni grilled sandwiches and Rooibos tea!

Fun Times with Nana and Arnold

My Mom and her boyfriend Arnold came to visit this past week. We had lots of fun and did lots of fun stuff. My kids had school and Arnold has a daughter who lives in Denver so Mom and I had a lot of time to just sit and visit. It was really fun!

Had a BBQ with my cousins Paulette and Linda.
