HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Decided to take Jacob out after church this afternoon to the parking lot for his first try at driving ... why not, it's Halloween and scarey things happen anyway!  He finally got his permit and now the fun begins!!!

Then tonight, he and a group of his friends got together to go out trick-or-treating.  What happened to the age limit thing?  Jacob decided to be a freaky clown -- when Kobe our cat saw him, he raised his back up like a true Halloween Kitty (poor thing was so scared).  They all had a good time and are all still here in the basement.

New Things Around the House ... Some Much More "Fun" Than Others!

New Garage Doors - "Not" Super-Fun

While new garage doors are not the funnest things to spend our hard earned money on ... it sure is nice to have them open as they should EVERY time!  How did we ever live without them!!!

New Toaster - Really Needed & Kinda Fun

I know some of you are thinking ... she blogged about a new toaster?  You have NO idea how GREAT this is.  We have never really had a toaster that has really worked or that we have liked since we got married.  Our old one (Yucky Toaster #1) broke and I was too cheap to get a good one so we then had Yucky Toaster #2.  Well ... Kohl's had a great sale, we had coupons on top of that and we got the "KIND" toaster.  EVERYTHING fits in it and it toasts beautifully!!!

New Washer/Dryer & Freshly Painted
Laundry Room - Really Fun!!

The washer we had for about 18 years finally died and we decided to get brand new ones!  Can I tell you how far they have come in technology with washer/dryers in 18 years?  The things practically fold and put away too!

Here are some before and after shots!

 Ready to be washed!!

New Bedroom Furniture - Most Fun of All!!!

Kraig and I have NEVER had new furniture for our room!  Our room has always been a "one of these" days kind of thing.  Something or someone else always got the money that would go towards that.  Well ... we splurged and it got delivered on Thursday.  Of course it would have been nice if a painter/designed would of been delivered at the same time.  Still need paint, a comforter, curtains/shades, pillows, pictures, etc.  But it is a start and I am sooooo happy!!!! (Just stuck a quilt we had on there but we did buy new lamps too!)

I'm sure that that this will be our next "FUN" purchase in a year or so ..........

Fun and Games

Went to several games this summer ....

Castle View High School Homecoming Game

Jacob is part of the Castle View High School Marching Band again this year.  Here are just a few seconds of videos of him playing and also some pictures.  I didn't record very much because then they are to "big" to post on my blog but this gives you just a snippet of what a talented young man he is ... handsome too!

Rockies vs. Dodgers Game

It was a beautiful night for a game ... and we had great seats!  I didn't even get hit with a foul ball this time! (Hey, bet you didn't know that I pitched for the Rockies, did ya?)

BYU vs. Air Force Game

Here is the funny part ... forgot my camera at home for the game!  BUMMER!  But it was so much fun because my friend Debbie Wagstaff and some of her family came to see it.  They are all die-hard BYU fans and only THEY are crazy enough to make that drive for one short night!!!  Karl couldn't come because his Dad was in the hospital, he was sorely missed, but we all had a fun time anyway.

(l-r) Trevor and his new bride Nicole, Nathan (Jacob's BFF Growing Up),
Daniel (just home from a mission) and Debbie

They were able to get up Sunday and go to church with us before they hit the long road trip home.

Debbie made sandwiches for the road and I made a fun "omelete roll" I have been wanting to try.  You bake the egg mixture in the oven on a cookie sheet with parchment, put all the goodies inside and roll it up, then slice it like a cinnamon roll.  It was GREAT!

Hopefully they will come back again when Karl can come and they can stay longer!

Surprise Visit!

Had just finished up a Girl's Camp meeting about 3:00pm on Monday, when a man's voice called in through my screen door saying he was lost and needed to use my phone.  It kind of startled me so I just peeked around the corner and my Dad and Step-Mom Susan were on my front porch!

They flew in from Yuma, Arizona for a couple of days.  It was so fun to have them in my home (their first visit to Castle Rock) and after recovering from the initial shock ... we had a GREAT time!

Jacob had band practice after school and Kraig had made a quick trip to LA that day and wouldn't be back until late, so we just did a tour of the house (dirty bedrooms/bathrooms included) and sat a talked.  They had already taken a room at the Best Western up the street (didn't want to put me into total cardiac arrest) so later that evening they headed back over to their hotel.  Susan didn't sleep too well because the Hotel is right near the train tracks and freeway so next visit they said they will GLADLY sleep in the "basement suite"!

The next day we did a little site-seeing in downtown Castle Rock and sat outside and had lunch at Dream Pastries.  This week is Dad's birthday so he is showing off his new watch he got from the Outlet Stores!

Had to show Susan, Jessica's favorite place ... "The Barn"!

We brought home take-out food when Jacob and Kraig got home and sat on the deck and had a wonderful evening visiting.  I can't believe that I didn't get more pictures!  They were here and gone so fast!  Next "planned" visit ... they will have to stay longer!!!

Susan left us "Witch Mabel" that she made for our front door!
Now that they know where we live ... hopefully they will come back soon!!!!
