JACOB'S GRADUATION CELEBRATIONS

Thought I would try to get back into blogging by posting about
Jacob's Graduation on May 22, 2013 and go from there!
I've been a little out of the loop .... to say the least!

GRADUATION FROM
CASTLE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 2013

Castle View High School doesn't have it's own stadium so Graduation is held
at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre.  A beautiful setting!

All the graduates lined up at the top to walk down the side isles to the stage.

Our handsome 18-year old son!

The band and the school officials were on the stage.

I walked to the side & watched & watched
(they all look a lot alike)
& waited & waited for him to walk by me ... finally I saw him
but the camera was on the wrong setting!  BLAST!

The evening started out really pretty ... kind of breezy and balmy.
Jacob's girlfriend, Alana came with us.
(Kelsey and Josiah couldn't make it -- sad story down below)

The Anderson Twins (Cole and Hunter)
These great guys are Jacob's friends who were
Student Body President and Vice President
(I took this picture from the Jumbo-tron)

THEN THE RAIN STARTED!

There was only a slight chance of rain so we didn't really come prepared.
Luckily we had a towel and umbrella in the car.
I think this should be Kraig's new Face Book profile picture!

By the time Jacob's name was called, it had been pouring for a good hour!

WE WERE ALL SO WET AND COLD!
The graduates were not under cover and had on only dress clothes
under their flimsy robes with no umbrellas or anything!
  THEY GOT SOAKED!
Jacob's hat was a soggy mess ...
his clothes and shoes completely wet ...
not to mention our programs ...
 and his diploma!
I got it dried off and flattened out!

I'm sad because we didn't get any pictures of Kraig and I with him!
The only good thing was a lot of the Grandparents and families with small children left so that the traffic wasn't bad getting out of the venue.
The whole day really didn't turn out as planned!

A CELEBRATION LUNCH

Because we knew Graduation was a 7:00pm until late,
we invited Kelsey and Josiah to come over and go out to
lunch with us before we all headed off to the ceremony.

Lunch was really fun and tasted great.  We then headed back home to have our
traditional "Island Sorbets" for a treat.

Here's the sad part ... Kelsey and Josiah left around 3:30 to go back to their house and let their little dog Cooper out and were to be back by 5:00 so we could all go together.  Finally, around 5:10, when we almost couldn't wait any longer, they finally called and had been in a 3-car collision right up the street from our house!

Luckily the weren't hurt ...
and the car wasn't badly damaged!

However, by the time they got done with all of that stuff, the traffic was horrible and they wouldn't have made it in time or would have arrived just in time to sit in the rain.  It just wasn't the same without them there!

TEACHER APPRECIATION NIGHT

As part of the end-of-the-year celebrations, each Senior that attends Castle View High School from our church gets to nominate a teacher that has had a special impact on them during their High School career.  Our church puts on a special dinner for them at our church building, complete with a keynote speaker, the Mayor and other Douglas County School District dignitaries.

It is a great community service and the kids and teachers love it.

Jacob nominated Mr. Patrick McHenry
(Mr. McHenry was nominated by two of his other friends, also)

It was a fun night!

Finally a picture of his Graduation announcement
(front and back) and his year book!

Can't believe that our baby graduated .....
and we have no more children in school!

PARTY TIME!

The heavens have parted....a blog post has arrived! Can't believe it poured rain (imagine that with Mabel!) and I'm so glad Kelsey and Josiah's ordeal wasn't more serious. Good pictures! Sad I couldn't be there. Who did the grad pic and announcements? They look great! Congrats to my baby brother!
