Jacob Receives His Eagle Scout Award

On November 30, Jacob received his long awaited
EAGLE SCOUT AWARD!!!

It has been a wonderful journey with lots of fun camping, hiking, and backpacking trips to earn the many, many merit badges that are required.  He wrapped up all his years of scouting with his Eagle Scout Project at the Castle Rock Recreation Center Community Pool.

I am so proud of him for sticking with it so that he could
be awarded this great honor!

Well done, Jacob!

Before the ceremony, each of the 4 Eagle Scout Candidates set up a "table"
with items and pictures reflecting their journey.

3 of the 4 young men getting their awards.
Josh Kumpf (18), Jacob Naylor (16), David Hess (13)

Fantastic young men who will make great leaders some day!

 The proud parents ...

and a proud sister who looks like a shrimp next to her "little" brother!

I can't tell you how grateful we are for the fantastic leaders Jacob had as role models through the years.  Kraig spent a lot of time traveling while Jacob was
young but these leaders were able to teach Jacob what it meant
to be a man with integrity and honor.

I just love this picture because they were always laughing and
having so much fun together!

Jacob's Eagle Project
Jacob spent MANY hours meeting the woman in charge of all the community service projects for Douglas County.  He had to make a presentation before the "board" of the Castle Rock Recreation Center to get their approval of his idea.  After many renditions to "the plan," he was all set to start (there is A LOT of paper work to getting a project approved).

Jacob was so fortunate to have Paul Bell to help him with his project.  Jacob (and those that he got to help trace and paint) projected computer generated silhouettes onto a wall and traced them onto huge pieces of paper.

They were then able to take them to the rec center and tape them into place on the walls above the pool and trace them right where they were to be painted.

With the outlines in place, they were able to paint them.

What is so fun is that I got and work out at the rec center all the time
and see his project every day!

GO JACOB!! (AND MOM! Since you pretty much should be getting the award too!)

Wish we could have come to the ceremony. Good pictures. Jacob's badges are crazy!

So in the picture of you and Kraig and Jacob there is a picture of Jesus in the background and it looks like he is reaching out to touch one of your curls!

Cute pic of Jake and Shrimp girl.
